Hi there! The color on the screen is a visual representation of the measured surface color. This is going to change slightly depending on your device display and that’s okay.
What’s not going to change is the digital color values displayed under the diamond on the screen (CIELAB, XYZ, CMYK, RGB, etc.). Those are exact measurements of the color and can be saved or exported for data reports. It’s a valuable tool for professionals who love the science behind color and work closely with technical color data, rely on custom color libraries, and quality control protocols.

There are two major potential sources of error here: the camera’s color balance and the screen’s color balance. (also the wavelength of the illuminating light source) Hopefully Nix provides tools for calibrating all of these, including providing both software as well as pre-measured color samples in both physical and digital forms.
