I'm all for Google paying Apple a bunch of money to be the default search on that platform. So when I switch my default to DuckDuckGo, it's like giving Google the middle finger. The small amount of money they paid Apple for me to be the default has gone to waste.
I'm trying to move more and more away from Google. They can be replaced. No one is forcing anyone to use Google. Unless a person is holding a gun to your head forcing you to use Google, I don't see what the issue is. I'm not a fan of Google. They are an Advertizing company. They make most of their money showing you targeted ads from all the info they gather on you. When you use an Android phone, it's nothing buy Spying. If you have an iPhone and you install Google Apps, Google is spying on you when using those apps.
Who doesn't know all of this by now? If you have a problem with Google Search, use something else. I use DuckDuckGo which I find works as well and without all the ads everywhere. You can use BING or YaHoo. Spread the wealth in searches. Don't just default to Google.
I'm slowy working on switching my gmail over to Proton Mail. I don't use Google maps, I use Apple Maps and sometimes WYZE, though Google owns WYZE! I do use other MAP apps for my Motorcycle that are better suited for motorcycle use.
Again, no one at Google has a gun to your head to use them. Yahoo used to be #1 before Google. Who knows who will dethron Google Search in the future? But with all the EU laws and regulations, only a huge company can even afford to do buisness in the EU. Can afford the fine and hire all the people needed to follow all the laws. That just locks Google in even more and making it even harder for anyone else to take over and become #1 over Google. It just helps keep Google in power.

Gas at Costco was $5.299 this last weekend when I went to get gas. It keeps going up. PG&E bill is just insane. The average home price in CA is $600K. This leads to parking problems because there are more cars in a neighborhood because there are 2 families or more living in a house to be able to afford the mortgage. I see that around me.
There is Sonic in the S.F. area where you can get 10Gb fiber service for around $65!!! Both directions and no CAP. So you can really see how much these ISP's are really making on people with high prices.

You can never trust any GPS 100%. They are not perfect. They have errors. They route you in dumb ways. I always go and look at the route the GPS wants to route me and see if it makes sense. That it is actually routing me to where I need to go. I also look where I'm driving.
I've heard of the GPS telling a person to make a right turn and they end up turning onto train tracks instead of that right turn just past the train tracks. Really, you couldn't see those tracks??? Talking aobut not using your brain at all.

Netflix with different prices for HD or 4K, etc, etc is just annoying. The prices hikes over and over. I dropped 4K, and I'm on the fence of just dropping Netflix all together. I don't remember thelast time I watched something from them. I watch so much youtube these days as there is a lot of great content on that platform.
I have AppleTV+ which is $5 a month and it doesn't matter what Resolution you watch in, all the way up to 4K and HDR. Netflix is playing these cable companies up charge on everything game. I think it's going to get worse if the rumors of Ads become true. They'll jack prices once again, but say, you can keep your current price but not you have to watch the ads.

I cut the cord years ago. As prices went up, and up, I dropped what I could, until I finally cut out TV service from Comcast. Then I got my house and one of the first things I did was mount a large Antenna on the roof. THAT is how I get most of my TV. I had already been paying for Netflix.
Signing up for a replacing streaming TV service these days doesn't make much sense. You have Bandwidth CAPS that streaming TV service eats up. Plus these streaming services prices have shot way up. It doesn't seem any cheaper. I could never watch all those channels. Once you dump all that, you get use to less channels with an Antenna. That is free TV. Get an HDHomerun and connect that to your Network and use any number of Programs to DVR, I use PLEX and now you can record your TV and watch anywhere on anything. PLEX will also auto cut out commerials.
These days I do watch a lot of YouTube. There are a lot of great, well produced programs.
We all know what this site is mostly used for and how it has grown because of that. Who cares if someone gets offended by the content. No one is forcing them to watch any of it. By killing this adult content, they are basically killing their site to become worthless. What are they now going to offer that you just can't get at a dozen other places?

I have security cameras around my house and being on the corner I have a great view of a number of houses. My cameras were helpful to the neighbors a couple of times.
The simple fact is, the EYE'S can not trespass. Anything you can see from your eyes in public you can record. If I wanted to stand in front of your house and record your house, so long as I was on Public Property, say the sidewalk, I can record away. It's your job to close the blinds if you don't want that person to record into your house. It's one reason I keep the blinds closed all the time in front of my own house. Now if you go onto the property and stick your camera right at the window, well now you're getting into trespassing and Peeping Tom laws.
This is ho we have Google driving around their cars with a bunch of cameras and recording or taking pictures of everything they see for Street View. They're on a public road and can take all the pictures they want. People also have Dashcams. Tesla's have cameras all over them that are recording.

Besides doing all they could to stop it, they increased speeds and dropped prices!!!! Because they had competition!!!
I say let Comcast, TWC, AT&T, and anyone else who wants to bring in broadband to any and all cities. Make it much easier for companies to come in and hang their wires. Coax or Fiber. Let's have 2,3,4+ company's fighting it out for every last customer. That means dropping caps, Dropping prices, faster speeds. Better customer service!!!
The government created this mess by listening to these company's in the first place and letting them set the rules and have their way. Nothing has changed. When these company's get special deals if they do such and such and they don't do it, nothing happens to them!!!! Why???
So I find it hard to believe a Government-run system is going to be any better in the long term.

Trump has only been President for 4 years. Well, almost 4 years come next month. This whole Broadband thing has been happening for YEARS and YEARS!!!! This is not some new thing.
One big plus we do seem to have is StarLink which people who had no real option as past Satellite Internet services have SUCKED big time, now have a real broadband option. You can check this out on YouTube as they set it up and do some speed tests. It's a real option for many people outside of town mainly. Those that don't even have a choice of Comcast or even crappy DSL.
My Mom lives out in the country on 5 acres. I'll have to talk to her about maybe switching to StarLink from the crappy satellite service she currently has.
