Bureaucratic process and advertising are the only things that are going to make money in The US in the 2010s. I have the feeling that becoming an entrepreneur will involve an increasing amount of financiering so that nobody motivated enough to make money with their own company can ever escape the debt of those who already had enough money to invest in the start-up. Oligarchs obviously not included as "nobody".

    Really botched

It is hard to interest casual sports fans in, for instance, the now 45-year-old current version of the Stanley Cup or the unrivaled athleticism and toughness of the NHL's players when there are almost comical stories breaking regarding the NHL's television woes and now bad publicity which, in both cases, are completely self inflicted. Add the Commissioner almost losing control of one of the League's teams over the summer and you have a very Mickey Mouse looking operation. Then again, I would rather bad twitter pub than, say, triple-gun-motorcycle or steroid-era bad pub. Just shows the respect the players have for their game. Go Pens.

I am eager to see what the French deem objectionable. I mean, I know that isn't the point of the article, but its definitely an interesting tangent.

    How soon before...?

How soon will it be before we have a situation like Phorm's "behavioral advertising firm" tracking our viewing pattern? I've been getting overlay ads for a while, and I can just imagine the bloodletting that will happen in this "new frontier" of completely ruining content for the viewer.

I'm also tired of frame-pop-ups that prompt me to thumbs-up if I want to learn more about... well, its almost always penis drugs. Large ads appear in the TiVo menu as well, so it is only feasible that somehow the ad firms will find new and sickening ways to force me to watch their ads. I expect that there will be 10-15 seconds ads that freeze the show you've fast-forwarded back to, as you hit "play", before TiVo continues. There will be no escape.

    I boycott Disney.

The very first time Disney threatened me with their vault, I decided not to intentionally do business with them. They own far too much industry to avoid completely, and Mickey Mouse looms over Paris. There is no escape.

Since then, I've sired a child, and Disney forces me to feel as though I'm depriving my by-then-weeping child of their timeless classics should I not immediately flock to the boutique. By the time they're re-released, he'll be an adolescent who hates me irregardless, so my resolve is still clear; crystal clear. Great article.
