    Facebook lawsuit

And one of the tactics of large vested interest is the use of publicists and others to generate spin for their version of events, casting scorn on the honest people seeking redress. Doubtless the vehemence of some of these comments arises from those with vested special interests of that sort. Treble damages are for people who employ such practices.
I think the twins should take control of the company, break the grasping, lying interloper and drive him out. Perhaps then we will at last have an honest discourse. This din of thieves appears in need of such a remedy.

To get anything at all, they must have them dead to rights

Being just a couple of guys demonstrating absolute proof of their contention is how they finally got anything at all. Their complaint seeks redress of their unconscionable injury due to loathsome misbehavior on the part of the billionaire's vast negotiation team who felt no obligation to be forthcoming and never saw themselves as having a fiduciary duty to the real co-owners of the company. I do hope that the twins finally get a fair shake.
I have a similar problem with another website, (www.pheromones.com) but there will be no justice for me.
That's my handprint in Borne Identity, and notes in my handwriting appear in E.T., Close Encounters, K-PAX, Good Will Hunting, Dead Poets Society and Back to the Future. I invented "The Force", "The Jedi", and "The Pirate Code". Inception, Avatar, Titanic, Forrest Gump, Phantom Menace--all were my creations, but all I got was a pack of microcassette tapes and $1.00 for my cave sax solo in Dead Poets Society in return for signing a piece of paper I couldn't have a copy of. There is absolutely no justice in America, unless the twins can be vindicated and properly and promptly paid.

    Coppola

How about stalking? Intellectual property theft? How about making your daughter do exactly the same thing against a completely innocent person?
Somebody should ask Coppola to pay his old debts before he splits his winnings with posterity and joins the glorious Hollywood pantheon.
Who saved Apocalypse Now for you?
Who gave your daughter Lost in Translation, Eternal Sunshine?
What's with lizarding around my family out in Sand Springs?
You owe me at least an explanation, Francis.

    Defending Taxi cab companies

Our court system was developed in the 15th century and would never stand up to modern Scientific standards of evidence. Likewise Taxi regulations and requirements are outmoded, right? In the age of GPS, is it really necessary for cab drivers to memorize the streets of London? Why should a taxi license cost $35,000.00? Taxi 'regulation' has always been an excuse to place economic barriers to entry against potential rivals. Or is that the only reason? Why is this allowed? What is the advantage to creating a taxicab cartel? 1. Fewer taxicabs on crowded streets.
    2. Better paid taxicab drivers.
    3. Vetted taxicab drivers, i.e. most criminals excluded.
    4. Consistent (but always higher fare/mile) rates.
    5. Mechanism for dispute resolution. Law enforcement cooperation via taxicab company record-keeping. 6. Cars can be maintained by individual drivers more cheaply than cab companies, yes, but taxi drivers might be inclined to under-maintain and over-utilize outdated, polluting equipment. Consistently clean cabs in good mechanical repair, meeting air pollution regulations usually benefit the traveling public's perception of a city or locality.
A jitney system, like that here in Tampa, works well when just starting out, because all the vehicles are new and there are only a few of them. With time, the free-for-all degenerates into piles of junk littering and congesting the roadways exactly where such traffic is undesirable for the city as a whole.

    Well, sorta

One person can innovate as well or better than the entire human race. A lot of stuff generally (badly) ill considered as unapproachable scientifically is quite amenable to systematic testing and elucidation. Right now I can change sexual orientation, I can cure criminal behavior, I can cure drug addiction, I can cure runaway behavior in humans. Making artificial gills is easy, not impossible, so is a room temperature super-conductor. And that one person's contribution can be felt over wide areas, too. Inception was my idea, ditto Avatar, Titanic, The Matrix, Forrest Gump, Star Wars, E.T. and a host of others. You think idea theft is good? Perhaps if we gave out death sentences for filing false copyright & patent claims, we could control theft, but stealing intellectual property is so easy any complete airhead can do it.

"At least we don't tax innovation and hunt down inventors as much as we used to." That is my solace?

    academic peer review

Elderly peer review is an adequate system for youngsters learning to write. Crowd sourcing may be a nice way to fluff out a review, but only the intensity of an educated mind prepared for surprises can make the breakthroughs upon which humanity must ultimately depend.
Why? Because nobody wants the work of comprehending novelty. Our most foresightful works are published, if at all, in peripheral journals. The birth of radio astronomy is a good example. Our most advanced thinkers can not be published at all. Leonardo was forced to self-publish his folios, which went unrecognized as anything but pretty pictures for more than 500 years.
So, no. Do not count on peer-review to discover anything whatsoever. Instead, wait for all the old men to die upon their golden thrones, then we will have progress, maybe. One cannot climb up upon the shoulders of giant imbeciles without sticking one's buttocks into the faces of our recognized scientific greats. So long as money funds science and science pays a living wage, airheads will get those jobs. Open an area of inquiry and some nit-wit thumpkin will apply for a fraudulent patent or copyright for it.

    aggregators enriched, newspapers in decline

Q.E.D. it is the aggregators doing the damage. Just force the big internet aggregators to carry some of the advertising from the paper where they got the story. That might be the fair thing to do. Formulae could be arranged, or some other exchange of information might substitute, even money. If we level the playing field, the market will just sort it out.

  • Aug Fri, 2010 @ 01:05pm

Theft is the problem, not the solution

The problem is that marauders determined to steal ideas hunt down thinkers and steal their ideas. The odd thing is that this is not illegal, it's not even considered immoral!
Suppose you have an idea and post it on the internet. Some hunchback at a university takes it, writes it up, and publishes it as his/her own. Now, your idea is out there, true, but who cares? It's the hunchback who gets the patent instead of jail time.
We need to imprison people who file fraudulent or false claims of any kind with the government. We need a tracking system.
I have provided more than 3 trillion dollars worth of economic enhancement to the USA. My ideas carry tens of thousands of high paying US jobs. Millions of American families have profited from my works. (e.g. HOPE Scholarships--college for millions, Avatar, Titanic, Inception, 6th Sense, Forrest Gump, Wag the Dog, Star Wars, E.T.) If I had one tenth of one percent of the profits that my ideas have provided to humanity, I would have my own lab and we could get some real progress made. As it stands now, I linger in squalor. I had to run an experiment with human blood in my back yard to discover the cause of atherosclerosis.
Is our society so broke that the best and brightest among us must languish in poverty, without hope, lost and forlorn?

    Studio productions

People whose valuable images we see in movies should be out shooting every day with these competent cameras while they wait for their next studio opportunity. The portfolios so created will enable a computer-generated body of work that will last for the ages.
But, I'm just the guy who came up with Inception, Avatar, Titanic, Forrest Gump, Star Wars, Braveheart, ID4, the Matrix, 6th Sense, Juno ...

    Libel laws in the USA

Have you got an innovative idea? Prepare to be libeled if you live in the USA. Ever been robbed of intellectual property? Libeling poor people who complain about being robbed is commonly used by our out of control US corporations who fear no fair judgement against them. Our libel laws should be strengthened, not weakened, to protect the rights of ordinary citizens.

    Public vs private good

Those who receive public funds take interest in frivolous things like research.
Those who receive private funds are generally interested in profit and are doing useful things like development.
Scientists do research. Engineers do development.
Engineering development is associated with progress. Research may never bear any fruit directly.
I have elucidated the cause and cure for crime, for drug addiction, and for sexual perversion, yet I receive no state subsidy. Such subsidies rob us of our creativity, turning us into colorless salarymen. It is far better to toil in squalor, striving against impossible odds. To win fame and fortune in science tolls the death knell for your creativity. That is why I have refused millions proffered for my helpful suggestions: Star Wars, Avatar, Forrest Gump, Good Will Hunting, Juno, Passion of the Christ, Titanic, Mystic River, 300, Pirates of the Caribbean, National Treasure, The Simpsons, and many more. They come to me for fresh thinking. When they rely on themselves, they get formulaic sequels.

I cannot count the number of times some imbecile has done some fine research and been baffled (but never dumbfounded). Generally the very first explanation that pops into their little skulls is what they latch onto, since their only real interest is in publishing 'something' instead of understanding anything. When Newton famously suggested his work would not have been possible had he not 'stood on the shoulders of giants', he was able to climb up there so easily because those giants had their heads up there chocolate kazoos.

Meanwhile why don't you all read my new book: Nicholson, Bubba (2009). Of Love KISSES PASS EPIGENETIC PHEROMONES IN THE PATHOGENESIS OF SOCIOPATHY, ?MENTAL ILLNESS? AND DISEASE The Cure for Crime. The Cure for Drug Addiction. Amazon Kindle edition B0030MIG24

    F THE POLICE!

Is that the ultimate guitar band name or what?

  • Jun Sat, 2010 @ 11:48pm

    Right on.

In making movies, the size of projects make anyone a satisficer. "What has worked in the past? Do that!" becomes the inevitable answer. Wow, is THAT wrong-bong. If you name your ten most favorite movies of all time, chances are that I did five of 'em. Avatar, Titanic, Forrest Gump, E.T., Star Wars ... I'm the greatest genius who ever lived and that is because poverty demands creativity, while desperation positively inspires it! I've kept myself impoverished and in pain for most of my life, bitterly rejecting the massive pay offered by Spielberg and dozens of others for flick ideas. Why? Because the opportunity cost of not making my self-sacrifice was too great. My staying poor helps humanity dramatically. I suffer to help you all.
Oh, and my non-movie work? I found the cure for crime, drug addiction, and perversion in my spare time. The title of my book is "Of Love KISSES PASS EPIGENETIC PHEROMONES IN THE PATHOGENESIS OF SOCIOPATHY, ?MENTAL ILLNESS? AND DISEASE The Cure for Crime. The Cure for Drug Addiction." Find it on Amazon dot com.

    Ideas are bulletproof

Just the process of hearing new ideas needs attention. Innovators in bureaucracies devote time to listening, but incur uncompensated costs. Winnowing out the cretans and impostors takes time and effort in a speculative game. That being said, my own experience is illustrative.

I've written a book to demonstrate the healing power of human pheromones, primarily the one on readers' noses. It is literally on the end of the human male nose, the greasy stuff without color, smell, taste or recognition. It is a pheromone that is passed in kissing. Simple enough?

Physicians can simply wipe it off their silly noses and use it to fight diseases: crime, drug addiction, perversion, Alzheimer's Disease, autoimmune disease. Will they? No, probably not. Why? Most people in medicine are sheep, chosen for their brown-nosing ability and conformity. The bias against entertaining innovation is so strong that the messengers are all shot on sight at extreme range. What is to be done?

Read and study my book. http://tinyurl.com/y8vxlxp

Careful study is required, not the skimming of innovative bureaucrats hunting profits. So study it. It comes well recommended, I have 1000X's your I.Q.

    Creativity from poverty & ...

I've often been asked why I keep helping out an old friend and his friends and now their friends in Hollywood with story ideas. Filming Star Wars was my idea (from the 'lost' 1963 novella 'The Star War"). My little helps have grown into big helps, I provided the stories for Titanic and Avatar, the Sixth Sense, Forrest Gump, The Matrix, Independence Day, and on and on, hundreds of films and TV shows. So why give billions of dollars worth of ideas away?
I'm an American and a citizen of this country. Entertaining my countrymen, giving them hope, inspiring freedom, justice, tolerance and education are all worthwhile enterprises from which I benefit particularly. You might not have noticed, but America is a much better place today than it was 40 years ago when we were losing to communism and led by JFK's murderer. Now the red is defeated almost entirely and I helped, a lot.
I get nothing and by taking nothing, I continue to be valuable to all of us because my creativity is enhanced by my poverty. Billions of dollars have been invested in projects which I initiated with returns on investment averaging 100% or better. But there were risks, risks that I did not personally participate in (other than the junk I gave Spielberg--an old leather jacket, some jewelry, etc.), risks on such scale that they usually turn creative writers into copycats to minimize them. For instance, no pirate movie had ever made any money before my Pirates of the Caribbean series. Yes, most of them succeeded dramatically, although a few (e.g. Apocalypto, City of Angels, 300, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, the TV show Kings) failed. And who, exactly was responsible?
I've railed here about how filing false copyrights and patents should be made criminal offenses, but had such law been emplaced, the incentive for idea theft would have kept my little stories, just little stories instead of big movies with big influence, creating a better society despite trends of social despair. Thus some of my criticism was meant as a lash to force the use of those ideas, concepts, poems, lyrics, and stories.
But my poverty is grinding poverty, and it threatens to shorten my life now that I have reached the age when vitality begins to decline. I know that Avatar needs a sequel, and only I can provide one fit enough to continue that advance. All I really need to do is wait, and Steven Spielberg's promises will be fulfilled. After everything, I still trust the little squirrel will be fair and just.
I have elucidated how to stop drug addiction, crime, running away, and sexual perversion. Perhaps I will die a fool, but before I do, I will have seen hopelessly ill people live long, healthy productive lives of real promise. If only I had more resources now, I could multiply those small numbers into millions, perhaps billions and trillions to come.
I'm fond of telling people that I have 1000X's their I.Q., and I do. I am one of the great hopes of the world, by the Grace of Almighty God. I know most of you don't believe in Him, but I do and He is the real reason that I have 1000X's your I.Q. Just thanking God when you find your reach higher rewarded with a strong grasp, that opens more doors than any honor, any high degree, or any fortune. God makes impossible possible.

    British law inviolate!

Maintain British tradition! Laws should not everywhere be exactly the same! Britain distinguishes itself in its libel laws. Bully Britannia!
Does the existing law further justice? Yes. Does the existing law allow uniquely won victories? Yes. Does England preserve itself enforcing existing law? It is a certainty. Save the libel laws and give wealthy foreigners a soapbox from which to speak their rich and famous peace--and increase their court fees to cover costs and provide Her Majesty the handsome profit to reward Her Majesty's court's beneficence.

    This will be moot anyway

We now have the ability to cure criminal behavior and it is easy. I don't know what these supercilious judges and juries will be doing, but working on 'cases' will not be in the cards.
It turns out that criminal behavior, indeed all 'thrill-seeking' behavior including drugs, escapes, and perversion, is merely a pheromone deficiency. It is easier to cure than boiling water and costs virtually nothing. The pheromone is the grease on the male judge's nose, forehead, chin, cheeks, and you just wipe it with any food (we use chewing gum) to collect it. 150 mg of the oil can be collected with 3 ordinary packs of new fresh chewing gum. Unwrap, rub the pieces directly on the older man's skin, re-wrap and label 'home remedy--not for sale'. Then give the gum to the delinquent/runaway/drug addict/homosexual and viola! They're cured instantly. There is no processing needed (unlike vitamins), and all you need is an older man to donate a little face grease.
We are going to close the prisons, close the police departments, and end the 'criminal justice system' as we know it.
